This command can be executed from the SI Explorer's Process menu.
This feature converts an entire Job or Master to use Automatic Paragraph Numbering, which provides two types of numbering schemes, Numeric and Alphanumeric.
The conversionThere are three Conversion options within SpecsIntact. 1) Will convert files to XML format, which is the required file format for SpecsIntact, 2) Will convert an existing Job or Master to use the Automatic Paragraph Numbering, 3) Will convert a Job or Master's manual lists to the automatically Ordered Lists, and 4) Converts the Tag Attribute Tags to UND, ITA, BLD, and CTR. process will remove the SubpartThe levels below a Part are referred to as Subparts. These Subpart levels are then broken down into and referenced as Articles, Paragraphs and Subparagraphs, although the share the same Subpart <SPT> Tag number and three spaces from all Subpart Titles throughout the Sections. Once this is done, a Meta Data <MTA/> tag will be added at the top of each SectionA set of files within the Division of a Master or Job that covers specific aspects of construction. After completion, SpecsIntact automatically numbers the subparts for the Sections during editing, printing, and publishing. With this feature, Subpart TagsSpecsIntact relies on tags to control content, and formatting, automate processes, and generate reports. These special markers, like <SEC> and </SEC>, define elements and attributes within the specifications. Some tags, like <Page />, function independently. In essence, tags are the building blocks of SpecsIntact documents and Titles will always be synchronized.
Before proceeding with the Conversion to Automatic Paragraph NumberingThis feature automatically generates the Subpart Numbers for Numeric and Alphanumeric Formatted Sections by placing the correct Subpart Numbers between the Subpart <SPT> and the Title <TTL> tags. Unlike Traditional Paragraph Numbering, the number within the Subpart Tag and the auto-generated Title number will always match. This provides the capability to easily switch numbering schemes regardless of the original setup, make sure to close all Section files and BackupA process used to backup a Job, Master, Supplemental Reference List, or Templates from the specified location (Drive or other device) the Job or Master!
Using this Feature
How to convert a Job or Master to use Automatic Paragraph Numbering:
It is recommended that you BackupA process used to backup a Job, Master, Supplemental Reference List, or Templates from the specified location (Drive or other device) the Job or Master before converting. If you have not backed up, you will be prompted in Step 3 below.
- In the SI Explorer, select the Process menu
- Select Convert to Automatic Paragraph Numbering
- In the Backup Project window, choose Convert Job to Automatic Numbering
- In the Confirm Selections window, verify the selections are correct and then select OK
- If you receive the Some Sections Converted message, you will be asked to open the SIAutoConvertLog.txt file, When the Status Below Select the Item(s) to Generate or Update, leave the defaults or select the appropriate functions
- Select OK
