The Reference Verification Report provides results in two distinct reports for easier review:
- Reference Title DiscrepanciesReport will list any references from the Reference Article that have the same reference identifier, but different titles in other sections (TTLDIFFS.RPT)
- Reference VerificationReference Verification actually produces two separate reports:, The Reference Title Discrepancies (TTLFIFFS.RPT) and References Verification (REFVER.RPT). It compares the References in each Section’s text with those in its Reference Article and in the Supplemental Reference List (SRL). The results list discrepancies in the two reports by citing conflicting titles, and unresolved References (REFVER.RPT)
reference Verification
- Compares the References in each Section's text with those in its Reference ArticleAn Article within Part 1 that contains a list of the Publishing Organizations and the titles of all technical references used in the section text and Supplemental Reference List (SRL)A custom file maintained by the user to include reference standards not found in the UFGS Master guide specifications.
- Identifies discrepancies by producing two separate reports that list conflicting titles, and unresolved References.
- Identifies Reference Identifiers that contain more than 30 characters.
Resolving Discrepancies
Reference Title Discrepancies
The Reference Title DiscrepanciesReport will list any references from the Reference Article that have the same reference identifier, but different titles in other sections (TTLDIFFS.RPT) lists Reference Identifiers with conflicting Reference Titles in two or more Section Reference Articles.
Example of Reference Title Discrepancies

Resolving Reference Title Discrepancies
- Compare the Reference titles to determine which is correct for the publication. If publication dates differ, the architect or engineer should review the publication to determine which applies to the Section.
- Edit the listed Sections' Reference Articles so that they all reflect the correct date and title for the publication.
- Check for typographical errors or extra spaces by turning on Show Marks Marks
.
Unresolved References
The Unresolved References (REFVER.RPT) identifies References that appear in the Section text but missing from the Sections' Reference Article or the Supplemental Reference List.
Example of Unresolved References

Correcting Unresolved References
- Add the Reference and Reference Title (which includes the Publication date) to either the Section's Reference ArticleAn Article within Part 1 that contains a list of the Publishing Organizations and the titles of all technical references used in the section text or Supplemental Reference List (SRL)A custom file maintained by the user to include reference standards not found in the UFGS Master guide specifications.
- If you made your changes in the SRL, then run Reference ReconciliationThis process makes changes within the Reference Article of each Section so that it lists only those References that are actually cited in that Section's text. These changes appear in the output versions of the Sections (.prn, .doc and .pdf) not in the original .sec files again to automatically insert them in the Reference Articles.
