This command can be executed from the SI Explorer's Section Templates menu.

Allows the user to create a New Section TemplateIs an outline to be used as a guide in creating new specifications. The option to create Section templates on the Tools Menu or through Add Sections should be used to create unique section outlines, not new sections. New sections can be created for a Job or local Master. Revisions should not be used during the creation of a new Section from a Section Template.(s) as a guideline for creating new Sections within a Local MasterA Master that is specific to a District, Region, or AE Firm that contains unique Sections that cannot be found in the Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS) Master that are unique to a Center, District, Region or AE Firms.

Name

When creating a new template, the name field is required.  The template name identifies the template in the SpecsIntact Explorer and Windows File ExplorerThe Windows Explorer is Microsoft Windows file manager application that is included in the operating system. It provides a graphical interface and allows users to manage files, folders, network connections and folder options, as well as search for files and related components and may contain up to 50 letters and numbers with no special characters.

New Title

Provides additional detail about the Section Template.  The title can contain up to 64 characters, contain numbers, punctuation, spaces and both uppercase or lowercase letters.

Header Style

Defaulted to use the UFGS BannerFound at the beginning of each section; defines important specification information, such as the Section Number and Section Date, Superseding Section Number and Date, and the Preparing Activity (header) or you can select the drop-down arrow and choose None.

Scope

A brief description that defines the Section that is added to the templatesA Template is an outline that provides examples of how text should be entered in SpecsIntact format when creating a new Section General NoteOutlines specific agency requirements pertaining to Job creation and submission and surrounded by brackets.

parts

Provides the option to add one or more Parts to the Section Template, but at least one PartAll sections are divided into three parts: General, Products, and Execution is required.

Working Directory Or Folder

When the Templates reside in the default location, this option allows you to leave the displayed default Working DirectoriesA designated location on your systems hard drive or network drive where the Jobs, Masters, and Templates are stored or select one from the drop-down list.  When the templates have been relocated outside of the default Working Directory, the folder location will be displayed instead.

To create a New Section Template:

  1. From the SpecsIntact Explorer, select the Tools menu

  2. From the Section Templates window, select the New button

  3. In the text fields, enter a Name and Title

  4. In the Scope field, enter a brief description of this Section

  5. Below Parts, leave the default selections or uncheck the Parts to exclude

  6. Either leave the current Working Directory or select the drop-down arrow to choose a new one

  7. Select OK
